Once you have rehearsed and drilled the basics to they point where you can do it with your eyes closed with one hand tied behind your back… (figuratively, literally not recommended), it is time to start thinking of how to put various combinations together.

Sunny Shanghai.
26-Aug-06
A great turn out with the guys managing to keep a second game running for most of the afternoon. Seems like everyone is getting fitter which is good to see. Still it’s a question of doing the boring basics or going for the fancy stuff and it seems everyone likes the fancy stuff.
It is sometimes quite frustrating when people start throwing miracle passes on the first touch count. They say watching and copying is one of the best ways of learning. There are some plans to post some footage of plays from big competitions which will show us how it is really done. So watch this SPACE!

Hot weather continues…
25-Aug-06
Another mid 30’s deg C forecasted on Saturday. Dry so there should be no excuse for any handling errors. We are nearing the end of the hot spell so that is definitely something to look forward too.
Things to look out for:
9-10 September is the date for the rugby 7’s competition in Shanghai. Training seems to have already commenced.
Tri-Nations, All Blacks v Springboks, Saturday night, 9pm Shanghai Time kick off. Should be a blinder.

It was surprisingly cool with a nice breeze which made it a great day for touch. It was cut short however as the test match between New Zealand and Australia was brought forward 2 hours, so kick off in Shanghai was at 1.30pm.
The All Blacks won the test match whitewashing Australia 3-0 in this years tri-nations but it didn’t come easy as the final test was brutal. The final score, 34-27.
Now all eyes are on next weeks test in South Africa. Kick off should be at 9pm Shanghai Time.
