  • Touch Time this Saturday

There seems to be a bit of confusion over the start time this week. Social run around starts at 12pm today but the final round of the competition starts at 2pm.

    The current plan is:

    Cup Semis:
    *Kiwis 1 vs Mighty Creakers
    *S2M vs Odds & Sodds

    Plate Semis:
    *Kiwis 2 vs Singapore
    *Happy Pig vs JTD

    2.00-2.30 Plate Semis
    2.30-3.00 Cup Semis
    3.00-3.30 Plate Final
    3.30-4.00 Cup Final

    Then the plan is:
4pm-4.30 Celebration and presentation of trophy
    4.30-5.15 Beers in the pool
    5.30-7.30 BLEDISLOE CUP
    7.30-???? Feed somewhere?

It’s a sunny, humid, hot 31 deg so it is important to carefully prepare to avoid heat exhaustion. See you all there!

    Playing it cool.

“It felt good. I hit it sweet. I didn’t know how to act, I was a little bit surprised so I just kept it all inside, ran back and tried to look cool.”

If this isn’t the sign of a champion, I don’t know what is. Quoted from Aaron Mauger after a successful drop kick to get the All Blacks back into it at 11-9 down. The AB’s went on to beat South Africa 26-21 at Durban’s Absa Stadium.

Screw all the hugging and kissing crap from soccer/football. Someone should teach them to how to play it cool.

Research suggests black uniforms causes more penalties.

Check out this article. Is it ridiculous of is there some truth to it?

Research coming out of America suggests the black jersey may be the side’s biggest handicap heading into the tournament in September.

Thomas Gilovich, professor of psychology at Cornell University in New York, has studied how black sports uniforms affect a referee’s mindset when awarding penalties.

The study focused on America’s National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL) and found teams wearing black uniforms were more likely to be penalised than those wearing a lighter colour.

The Super 10 Shanghai Touch Competition Round 8 Match Up (again)

This week we are back at SRFC at the normal time of 12pm (noon). Very hazy and humid with forecast of rain and thunder. Let’s hope it stays away for what seems to be the last week of competitive touch for the Spring League.
